- Prepare 1 large Turkey (thawed)
- Make ready 2 tbsp Summer Savory
- Prepare 1 tbsp Paprika
- Take 1 tbsp Seasoning salt
- Get 2 tsp Garlic Powder
- Get 1 tsp Black Pepper
Steps to make 10 Hour Turkey:
- Combine all the seasonings in a bowl
- Using your hands, gently loosen the skin from the meat of the turkey. Careful not to tear the skin.
- Using half of the seasonings and rub thoroughly under the loose skin directly onto the meat
- Now rub the remaining half of the seasonings directly onto the skin of the turkey
- Place turkey in a roasting pan and cover. If your roasting pan has a metal rack use that inside the pan
- Bake at 250°F for 9 hours then remove lid. Increase temperature to 350°F and baste the turkey at that time and every 15 minutes for the last 1 hour to brown the skin.
- I do not stuff the turkey as there will be lots of liquid in the roasting pan. So lots of gravy, or use the liquid for soup stalk. Your choice.
- I cook mine overnight so you wake up to the smell of turkey and it frees up the oven for those busy Christmas diners.
