The ingredients needed to make Surf & Turf:
  1. Prepare 1 steak (your choice of steak cut. I enjoy a good rib eye)
  2. Get 5 large shrimp
  3. Take Your choice of vegetable. I prefer broccoli
  4. Take 1/4 c oil
  5. Get 1/2 of a small onion chopped
  6. Get 1/2 of a tomato chopped
  7. Make ready 1 tsp minced garlic
  8. Prepare Salt and pepper for taste
  9. Get 1 tsp thyme
  10. Get 1/2 of a Jamaican pepper optional
  11. Make ready 1/2 tsp paprika
  12. Prepare 2 tbsp butter
  13. Prepare 4-5 tbsp curry powder
  14. Prepare 1/4 c whole milk
  15. Take 1/4 c water
  16. Make ready 3 tbsp ketchup

Steps to make Surf & Turf:
  1. Shrimp - - Peal and devein your shrimp. - - Helpful tip - rinse shrimp in cold water with vinegar.
  2. Place shrimp in mixing bowl and add chopped tomatoes, half of the chopped onions, thyme, ketchup, 1 tsp of curry powder, paprika, chopped jamaican pepper and salt and pepper. Mix well.
  3. Cover bowl with plastice wrap and place in refrigerator to marinate for 1 hour.
  4. In a medium saucepan heat 4 tablespoons of oil one tablespoon of butter. Sautee the rest of the onions with the garlic.
  5. After sauteing onions and garlic add 4 tablespoons of curry powder. - - Helpful tip - Be sure to cook the curry powder thoroughly to get rid of raw curry taste.
  6. Add the marinated shrimp to the pan and cook until the shrimp begins to turn pink
  7. Add whole milk to thicken sauce. Add water if you prefer a thinner sauce. Stir and cover with lid. Turn Flame down low and let simmer for about 4 to 5 minutes. Turn off Flame and remove from Heat and keep covered. - - Helpful tip - do not overcook shrimp.
  8. Preheat oven 400 degrees
  9. Steak - - Add 3 tsp of oil and 1 tsp of butter to a skillet and turn on high. Let skillet get hot.
  10. Salt and pepper your steak on both sides then place on the hot skillet. Sear meat on both side (2-3 minutes each side depending on thickness of steak).
  11. Place skillet with steak in oven for 3-4 minutes. Take out and let rest. - - Note - your time in the oven will really depend on how well you like your steak.
  12. Served with a side of roasted potatoes and veggie of choice. Enjoy……..
