The ingredients needed to make Tuna with Sesame seed:
- Get 2 Tuna steaks
- Prepare 1 pinch Salt
- Make ready 1 pinch Black Pepper
- Make ready 1 tbsp Sesame Seed ( black, white or combination of both)
- Get 5 tbsp Olive Oil
One at a time, coat the steaks in sesame seeds on all sides, pressing the seeds into the steak so they'll stick. While the tuna is soaking up the marinade, we can start to get our skillet hot and pull out a separate plate for the sesame seeds. Now we can place the tuna steaks in the sesame seeds and get all sides coated. Season the tuna steaks with salt and pepper, then coat the steaks with sesame seeds on both sides, pressing them into the fish to stick.
Steps to make Tuna with Sesame seed:
- Season tuna steaks with salt and pepper.
- Pour sesame seeds over tuna steaks trying to cover them entirely.
- Heat olive oil on a pan.
- Fry tuna steaks on heated olive oil. 2 minutes each side. In case tune steaks were frozen I would cook for about 3-4 minutes each side.
Then, add oil to a medium stainless steel or cast iron skillet over medium-high heat. When the oil is hot, carefully add the tuna steaks and sear for about a minute on each side. Encrusting the tuna with sesame seeds provides an Asian flair, protecting the meat during the sear and adding a nutty flavor as the seeds toast. This technique also works well with other fish that have little fat and no skin, such as swordfish and mahi mahi. A whisked egg white helps the sesame seeds stick to the fish.
